DateLocation
Sat, March 5Spring Meeting at SFYC. Here's the spot to get a jump on the new season. Sail on over Friday night, get a good night's sleep and be ready when the fun begins Saturday morning. The Spring Meeting will cover the Race and Cruise programs for 2011.
Coordinators: TBD
More details and the reservation for will be here soon.
April 1-3 Encinal YC and Svensends' shopping party. We will bring back the Sven's shopping party and cruise to the Encinal Yacht Club pool. Part of the economic recovery package
April 29-May 1 (Optional) Great Vallejo Race. For you folks who don't want to, or can't participate in the actual race on Saturday, we have an option for you to attend this fantastic event! We have been invited to arrive early on Friday before the race and VYC will provide docking space to our club1 This could be really fun and we can greet the I36's that participate in the race. Once there, what a way to show how active our club is and a great way for non racers to join in the festivities. The only caveat is that we would have to arrive on Friday and stay until the racers leave on Sunday.
May 20-22 South Beach and ball game. Another fantastic event... Cruise in to SF and attend a game between the World Champion SF Giants and the past World Champion Oakland A's! Dan Knox, race chair and all around great guy is working this gig and seating will be limited, along with dock space. Dan will have 30 tickets on a first come, first served basis and docking may be a challenge, but we're working on it. So keep the dates open and we'll provide more info as we get closer.
May 28-30 (Optional) Memorial Day Cruise to the Petaluma Yacht Club and their "South of the Border" extravaganza! We have been personally invited by the club to attend this event. Because we had planned the cruise to SF before this came up, I wasn't planning on a Memorial Day cruise this year, but Petaluma... What a great venue and with the invite from the PYC, it sounds like a great holiday cruise.
July 2-4 Napa River Cruise. We're bringing it back, the I36 Napa River cruise to our humble (the Shea's) abode! This is a chance for all you adventure seekers to cruise the pristine waters of the Napa River and take over the Napa Yacht Club for the weekend. Our neighbors are anxiously awaiting the spectacle that is numerous sailboats crowding out an otherwise tranquil lagoon. So plan on heading up the river and explore the ever changing waterfront of Napa! (Note: This may be a jump off point for a cruise to the Delta for the remainder of the week. So Stay Tuned.)
Sept 2-5 Sausalito Labor Day Cruise. You should be ready to go for this event as you will have had August to recover from the last mega cruise. So here is the plan, we are going to take over the Schoonmaker Marina dock for the weekend and enjoy each others company and the Sausalito Art and Wine Festival event! As many of you may know, this event has many things to do and see and boast some incredible musical talent as well. Should be a fun weekend hanging out in the Riviera by the Bay and we'll put together some fun dockside events as well.
Sept 30-Oct 2 Half Moon Bay Oktoberfest. To close out a season of great cruising, we will once again head for the open ocean and rally down to Half Moon Bay for a weekend to Celebrate Oktober fest! Tentative schedule has us leaving on Friday Sept. 30 ( I know, some of you will have to play hooky) and returning Sunday Oct. 2. This is a great event for those of you who want to experience some offshore cruising in the company of friends. The trip usually takes about 4 -6 hours and, if you have never been out the gate and cruised south, I will say that it is one of the most rewarding and memorable cruises we have ever taken with the I 36 group and could be the highlight of this years cruising season!
