Islander 36 Coyote Point Rally, September 14-15, 2019

This is another great Racer/Cruiser event which counts for the season for the Racers, but can be a blast - and a test to see if you can go as fast as the racers - sailing down to Coyote Point. To join the fun, sign up, then rendezvous just south of Yerba Buena Island. Plan on a fun potluck dinner and spend the night with freinds. Hear stories of how the racers navigated the course -- or how the cruisers got their tans. Read on for more details. You must follow the rules of the road and be courteous to the other sailors. For those racers joining us you have to follow the racing rules.

Just for fun all boats need to take a picture of at least one other boat in the fleet and at least one buoy. Cell phone pics are acceptable. The more entertaining the better and who knows maybe you will get something interesting for having the best pic.

Meet at the south end of Yerba Buena Island at 1200 Noon. Here's the course (Click each pic for larger image).

The Start of the rally is between Buoy 2 and Buoy 2A of the Alameda Inner Harbor Entrance Cannel. If there is more than one buoy between you and Yerba Buena Island then you are in the wrong spot. If there is no wind we will hang out until the wind builds or we get bored and just head south. Keep your ears open on Channel 71 just in case.

We then swing by the Red Green "SC" Off Mission Rock Terminal leaving it to Port.

Next up is the Green #5 off of India Basin just before Hunters Point also leaving it to Port. Giving us a nice tour of the city front from South Beach down to Hunters Point.

We then shoot between the first two marks of the San Bruno Shoal Channel.

From there it is a beautiful reach down to the finish at CPYC Z mark at 37- 36.840N by 122-18.708W . The Buoy is a small Yellow or White Buoy with a smiley face on it. IT IS SMALL SO GO BY THE GPS LOCATION! You must pass within one boat length of the CPYC Z buoy to count! Take your time when you go by it and get it to me at the club.

Finish - Harbor

This is the end of the Rally portion and where you turn to Starboard to head to the Coyote Point channel.

Cautions getting into the channel are to first line up on the channel early. A course of about 215 magnetic toward Channel marks #1 and #2 should be good. The channel extends out from the #1 and #2 buoys and shallows on either side. DO NOT stray outside the channel!

Once inside the marina turn to starboard and follow the breakwater all the way down. There is a long dock at the end for us to tie up at.

Now it's time to gather for a celebration and a potluck at CPYC with your fellow Islanders.

Harbor (56K) Dock (88K)
We should get there before 3:00pm with plenty of time to relax.
For those that like golf there is a golf course right next door.
There are also wonderful trails to walk on and just enjoy the afternoon.

There is a wonderful dinner scheduled along with some interesting prizes for those who participate. You DO have to show up to be eligible for a prize!

Please sign up below so we can get a count of those coming.

Ask anybody who came last year. It is a lot of fun and we have plenty of room for everybody.
