Fall Meeting

Come help celebrate the Islander 36 and the Association's 47th year of sailing, racing, and cruising all around San Francisco Bay, and beyond. As Commodore Swanson said to the membership, Londoners escaping to the underground during the Blitz famously kept their spirits up singing, "We'll meet again. Don't know where, Don't know when" …. We know where and when. Please join us at CPYC Saturday, November 6th for long overdue fun and frivolity. We miss you. It's been over a year since we have had a chance to get together in person and catch up on everyone's sailing exploits during the pandemic. Your Board of Directors is looking forward to seeing you in person, awarding the I-36 Nationals Trophy for 2021 and most importantly, electing your 2022 Board of Directors. Though we have space available at CPYC for the Fall Meeting, in order for us to go forward with the Fall Meeting at CPYC, we need a minimum of 30 people attending. If yhou havent' already responded to Jocelyn's original email, fill in the reservation form below to let us know if you will be attending and the number of reservations. Please respond by October 9 so that we can confirm with Coyote Point YC and the caterer. The tentative cost is $45 per person. The Association's Fall Meeting is important for the Association as your 2022 Board of Directors will be elected. This year we have several positions open which will give Association members who live outside the SF Bay area an opportunity to participate in the Association's Board of Directors. Open Board positions are: Secretary This is a position which can be filled outside the SF Bay area as we can meet by Zoom. The Secretary takes the minutes of the Board, Spring and Fall meetings and sends out the minutes to the Board. The minutes for the Spring and Fall meetings are distributed to the Association members. Cruise Chair This position develops, with Board input, the SF Bay area cruise out calendar, then arranges with the appropriate contacts to schedule the cruise outs. Cruise outs can be to yacht clubs, Angel Island, the Delta, etc. We try to schedule 4-6 cruise outs depending upon availability and interest. Race Chair This position oversees the racing schedule for the SF Bay racers. We are looking at joining the Interclub Series as a one design group for the 2022 racing season which will make it easier on the Race Chair to coordinate the racing. Newsletter Editor This position publishes the Association's newsletter and is another position which can be done by a member living outside the SF Bay area. Phill (who does live outside the SF Bay area) is retiring, but has promised to provide a smooth transition with the next editor. The Board meets 3-4 times a year so it's not a huge demand on your time. Your volunteering keeps the Association active and vibrant. Saturday Evening Schedule 5:30pm - 6:30pm Cocktails (no host bar) 6:30pm - 10:00pm Dinner, Awards (and Speaker.) The bar will remain open. Some boats may choose to come over on Friday evening for a potluck or just to gather early. Please fill in the reservation form below with your particular preference.
