Half Moon Bay Labor Day Cruise
|
Here's your chance to get in some ocean sailing. Many poeple don't realize that the winds outside the Gate are often much nicer than the funnel going through the Gate. Besides, what better way to travel outside the Gate than with a bunch of Islanders nearby to show you the way, or lend a hand if necessary. That's just the first reason to sign up for this one. Half Moon Bay Yacht Club has a series of events for the weekend. Check out HMB Labor Day Weekend. There are lots of moorings in the Half Moon Bay outer harbor, and there might be space in the inner harbor, but any dock space is on a first-come-first served basis. Check with the Pillar Point Harbormaster at (650) 726-4382, or on VHF 16/68 if you are interested. Depending on how many boats sign up and where we want to dock, someone may have an inflatable to ferry you back and forth to other boats or the club's dock. Their docks are a hoot, and it is quite a fun "haul" to get ashore. This year we are lucky to have a gentle max ebb 2.0 knots at 1008 on Saturday morning to get out the Gate. So we'll aim for a 1030 Fleet Rendezvous at the South Tower to get started. You will want to either come up to the central bay on Friday evening, or get an early start from your harbor. It's about 25 miles into the harbor, so if we make around 6 knots, we'd be there between 1430 and 1500. It should be another great weekend of fun and relaxation for the Islander group. Make your Reservation now sowe can sort out the best cruise for the boats signing up. |
