Memorial Day Weekend - Marina Village
Saturday, May 26 - Monday,May 28, 2007

We've had such good luck this year with events in the Estuary, we're going to try one more. Have you ever been to their guest dock at Marina Village? It's tucked snugly between grassy shores with walks and fountains and ducks and ... well you get the picture. It's a nice cozy place for a rendezvous. So plan to join us for a great Memorial Day cruise. Kids, as always, are encouraged to attend. To add some skill-building, we'll be holding a sailing rally around Treasure Island and down the Estuary for the fleet on Saturday - with prizes for the winners and big cheers for everyone. Relax on Sunday, and maybe do one of those little projects you haven't gotten around to, or just read a book and walk the shore. It's a great time to do work aloft because there are lots of people to crank you up there. We may even get to participate in a grand re-naming ceremony for Corky & Anna Stewart's Brigid. Then head on home after breakfast on Monday to wrap up a most enjoyable weekend.

We'll have dinner at Oakland Yacht Club on Saturday night. Oakland YC has a brunch on Sunday morning for those that are interested. Save your best hearty hor de oeuvres for Sunday evening when we'll have a potluck on the dock.

Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning you can walk down to the Encinal YC and gaze at the beautiful Master Mariner wooden vessels recovering from the Master Mariner Regatta.

The Casual Plan:

Timing: Gather for the Rally at the northern guard buoy on the Bay Bridge tower to the east of the center block at 1145 for a 1200 departure on Saturday, May 26th. We encourage all boats to participate in the Rally - explained below. All boats are requested to monitor channel 72. We expect arrival at Marina Village by 1500 or earlier.

Docking: Commodore Art Fowler has arranged for FREE docking at the Marina Village Guest Dock for Saturday and Sunday nights. It is a little tricky to find your way into the Guest Dock from the Estuary but look for the small white sign with the red arrow saying "Guest Dock". A radio call will get you someone on the end of the dock waving, and being with the Rally will really make it easy to find your way.

Rally Instructions & Spreadsheet - Everyone who sends in a reservation will get an email with their Secret Number and the Rally Spreadsheet attached. You can use this to do your own calculations. If you'd like a spreadsheet but aren't sure you are coming, just send in a form with "Arriving By" as Other. Here's a peek at the spreadsheet: Rally Route. All boats participating should be aware that the Master Mariner's Regatta will be held at the same time and Blossom Rock is a mark of their course. Please avoid conflects with them, which might mean leaving Blossom Rock close aboard to port if they happen to be rounding when you pass by.
