Tomahawk Island Dr. Portland, OR 97217 Mike will send a single check to Petaluma YC for all who register. The Deadline is Sunday May 15. City docking fees in the turning basin are $20 per boat per night, usually collected at the dock. Monday 5/30 - Memorial Day Club open at 8am and most folks heading home. Once again we'll be waiting for water to depart. Though the dredged depth is 8 feet, it would be prudent to wait for at least a 0.0 level or a bit more. That suggests sleeping in, going out for breakfast, doing a "boat-chore" and otherwise hanging out until about 1030 hours when we should be thinking of getting under way. Tides for the weekend at the Petaluma River entrance: Friday ----- L 0641 0.0 ft ------ H 1229 4.5 ft ------ L 1805 1.6 ft Saturday -- L 0719 -0.3 ft ------ H 1324 4.6 ft ------ L 1844 1.9 ft Sunday ---- L 0755 -0.5 ft ------ H 1416 4.6 ft ------ L 1923 2.3 ft Monday --- L 0829 -0.6ft ------ H 1504 4.7 ft ------ L 2002 2.6 ft Travel Plans Obviously, if you can get away on Friday to make it a really long weekend, that would be best. It's 34 miles from the Estuary entrance to the Petaluma basin, at 5 knots it just under 7 hours, and a 6.6 knots if just over 5 hours. A suggested rendezvous time at the Estuary Entrance (R6) would be 1000 Friday morning -- and the flood will be with us -- for a mid-afternoon arrival. We'll use channel 72 as a common communication channel. On Saturday, an earlier departure would be best if you want to arrive in time to enjoy dinner and dancing. Target an 0900 rendezvous at Southampton Shoal for an early afternoon arrival. You'll have the current with you all the way. Anyone can go any time, but it is fun to travel together. Note in the reservation form if you are aiming for a group sail or going on your own. We won't be waiting for those that are running late (time and tide wait ... , and all that sort of thing).
