I-36 Nationals Regatta
In Richomnd YC's Great Pumpkin Regatta
Saturday, October 24, 2026

With Golden Gate Yacht Club's transition to more expensive events, we needed to find a new home for our Nationals Regatta. After reviewing several options, we will be incorporating our Nationals Regatta into Richmond Yacht club's Great Pumpkin Regatta on Saturday, October 24th. It has the advantages of a multi-race series, regatta management, good docking, and a great party with music and fun to boot.

To get our own starting sequence we need at lest 5 registered I-36s, and let's see if we can get to 7 or even more. Let's show the world that we are still one of "the grandest old fleets on the Bay." This is the time to encourage everyone to come out and join the fleet. If you haven't done anything else all season, this is the one to do. There is a choice below for "Maybe" racing, and a choice for "I'd Like to Crew." We'll do our best to get an interested skipper aboard a racing boat to learn what it's like. And, the weather should be nice as well!

So mark your calendar and make it a date - Saturday October 24th, the Great Pumpkin Regatta at Richmond Yacht Club.

Here are the details:

There could be as many as three races, but sometimes there is so little wind there is only one. That doesn't matter as there is still a great party to follow. If there is a tie on points after the races are complete, we will declare the winner to be the boat that had the shortest corrected time over the races completed.

To encourage more participation, we're going non-spinnaker this year, and we will give some rating credits to encourage participation as follows:

Rating adjustments:
Fixed 2 blade prop = +10 sec/mi
Fixed 3 blade prop = +15 sec/mi
Largest headsail 136% or higher = -6 sec/mi
Tall rigs = -6 sec/mi
Non-Spinnaker - no adjustment
Roller furling - no adjustment
Boat weight - no allowance for weight differences

Here are the Notice of Race. Note that RRS 40.1, personal floatation devices (PFD) will be in force.

PLEASE FILL OUT OUR I-36 REGISTRATION BELOW, THEN GO TO THE GREAT PUMPKIN REGISTRATION AT: Great Pumpkin Registration.
Be sure to select "Islander 36" as your desired class.
