Islander 36 Association
2013 Racing Schedule

Here's the first draft of your 2013 Racing Schedule from Fleet Captain Kit Wiegman.

I have put together a schedule that I hope you all like. This is a proposal so get back to me with likes or dislikes. (Email: Kit Wiegman.)

The idea is to both encourage more boats to come out and race, to make it easier to participate, and to make allowances for the many differences between boats.

One new requirement is everybody will need a PHRF certificate. The reason is we will be racing as a class with boats having different PHRF numbers. This will allow all to race, even the "cruisers", without having to make expensive changes to your boats. Fixed pitch prop, small head-sail, etc. will be taken care of and we will all be more competitive.

If you need help getting your PHRF certificate, please contact our Measurer Lou Zevanov louzev@comcast.net, or (925) 846-1112.

It's also a good idea to read (and reread!) the structure and Sailing Instructions for the YRA One Design Class Association (ODCA) series. A link is: ODCA Instructions..

Thank you,
Kit Wiegman

These races are sponsored and conducted by individual yacht clubs under the general rules of the YRA. The Islander Association simply has scheduled a start for Islanders in their races and assumes no liability for race events. It is the responsibility of each individual owner to decide if his or her boat and crew are suitable for a given event, and whether to participate, start or continue to race in any event.
