Tacoma Blue's Mast Collar |
Richard Watters replaced and strengthened his mast collar in 2007.
The mast collar is one component of a complete replacement of my running rigging. I plan to cruise off shore and I felt my running rigging was inadequate for my needs. Because I typically sail shorthanded I wanted to set the boat up so I could single hand it if I had to. I ran almost all lines aft to the cockpit. When discussing the layout with my rigger (J. P. BOATWORKS) we decided a mast collar was needed to handle the blocks. After looking at what was available "off the shelf" we decided to fabricate a custom mast collar.
I was working with Garhauer re: traveler mounts and I ask if they could fabricate a mast collar. My rigger talked with Mike and ultimately sent a template and specifications as to what we wanted. What you see in the pictures is the final product.
