We had a great Zoom gathering of 30 people representing 24 Islanders. Commodore Jocelyn Swanson started off with an opening welcome, a review of the agenda, then on to the business meeting. First, Board members were asked to introduce themselves. The Minutes of the last Board meeting were approved, as was the 2021 annual budget. That led to some interesting discussion with Greg Greene from Tacoma and the cruising rallies they have done on Puget Sound - they even had some games and prizes for events. That then morphed into a discussion of having an Islander 36 Association flyer to post (with permissions) at harbors and yacht clubs to recruit new members. Membership Chair Steve Swanson reported we have 130 active members of which 22 have not yet paid their 2021 dues.
Vice Commodore Rick Egan then introduced our guest speaker (and Measurer) Kit Kiegman who hald sway for over an hour on maintenance tips from the spar to the keel. Commodore Swanson wrapped up the meeting by asking all of the participants from outside the San Francisco Bay area to introduce themselves. Of the 24 boats, that included 10 spanning from the Hudson River, 2 on Lake Superior, Travis, Texas, Puget Sound, Ventura, CA, Marina Del Ray, Longbeach, plus Sidney, British Columbia, and originally Costa Rica but currently in Seattle! And that's not counting three boats technically "local" boats from Monterey, Sacramento and Portland. The full list of attendees and their sailing waters is below.
