Control Lines on Release Fall 2008 |
Dear All,
We have embarked on another project for our Islander 36, Release.
We are mostly cruisers so wish to have the halyards and reef lines returned to the cockpit. After trying to find fairleads to fit through the raised portion under the traveler, with no luck, we drilled 1 3/8 holes throughit and installed 1" pvc pipe. I then sealed it with Silapreme.
I aquired 2 new rope clutches on ebay and a Lewmar 30 2 speed were then installed. At present we have the main halyard, main sheet, and boom vang led back.
We are still working on the Jiffy reefing and would appreciate any info that someone has. Hope this is of interest to anyone who would like to do likewise.
Fair winds,
Ken Francie and Skipper for RELEASE
