Summer Sailstice at Encinal YC |
(If you like, you can skip down through the prose and go straight to the pictures below!)
It was a beautiful day to celebrate Summer Sailstice, and Encinal Yacht Club did a bang up job. There were vendors all over the lawn where you could get info, clothing and Dark 'n Stormys with Goslings rum. At least 4 Encinal members took members of the public out sailing in the estuary, including our own I-36 Secretary (and Encinal YC Senior Vice President) Bill Nork with Zenith. Every ride was filled, with perhaps 100 people getting out to sail. There were some Laser races, a cardboard boat race, and a Coast Guard helicopter water rescue demonstration right in front of the docks.
Your Islander fleet was represented 8 strong. It was a fun afternoon to catch up and enjoy all the festivities. We all had a number of the public asking questions and touring the boats on their way to or from their sailing adventures. With grandkids Nancy & Evan on Evanescence and Roy ∓ Melinda's two on Some Day it was also a perfect family weekend.
18 of us assembled for dinner at EYC at 1830 and enjoyed a fine selection that Bill Nork had arranged.
John, Eric, Rick & Sandy also joined Bill for breakfast Sunday morning and stayed to watch NZ rack up America's Cup wins 5 and 6.
It was a great weekend. Here's the list of Islanders, and enjoy the pictures.
