I-36 Rendezvous & Trillium Cruise to North Channel |
Jack & Anneke Wolf live in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and keep their I-36 Trillium at Muskegon Marina on Lake Michigan. They started out this summer with a planned I-36 Rendezvous at Whitehall, on White Lake, then a cruise up Lake Michigan, east through the Straits of Mackinac into Lake Huron, and then up through the Les Chenneax Islands (often referred to by local sailors as "The Snows") and on into the great North Channel cruising grounds at the north end of Lake Huron in Canadian waters.
Enjoy the pictures below, which also includes some screen shots from FUGAWI of sections of the trip. Then follow this link to get the full details of the adventure in Jack & Anneke's blog with lots of additional pictures and details of the distances, weather, and places where they stopped. http://trillium_travels.artiosband.com/ Watch for the faint "Older Entries" and "Newer Entries" links at the bottom of the text & pictures column to see all of the cruise. This is an excellent tour of some really great cruising grounds. Ports are typically 20 - 40 miles apart and many offer either dockside accommodations or anchoring out.
A special thanks to Jack & Anneke for arranging the initial I-36 cruise from Muskegon to White Lake & Whitehall, a short 10 mile jump from one pretty lake off "The Big Lake" (Michigan) to another. Only 3 of the original six boats planning to go made the trip in the face of questionable weather. Three cheers to Ed Gauthier (Andiamo) and Gene Viglietta (Scenario) who made the trip, and two cheers for trying to Douglas Mathewson (Quiescence I-36 from Holland & an Association Member) and Doug Brandt (Joey Lee – I-36 from Pentwater). But ANY I-36 rendezvous is a special event. Now if we can encourage Scenario, Andiamo and Joey Lee to join the Association, that would be great too!
