'Round Alameda'Round Alameda Parade 1/1/21
What a difference a year makes! The COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 cancelled most regattas and all social gatherings. Everyone couldn't wait for New Year 2021 in hopes that things would be getting better and returning to some form of normal. Well, if the sailing gods are any guide, we certainly had a good omen to start the year. Warm sunshine and almost no wind made January 1st, 2021 a good day to be on the water. Five Islanders were on the water, Cassiopeia (Kit Wiegman, Naomi and Yvonne) Full Circle (Mark & Ciny Irwin), Kapai (Rick Egan), Luna Sea (Dan Knox), and Vanishing Animal (Rick & Sandy Van Mell) with White Horses (Rob and Ruby Blenderman) crewing aboard Luna Sea for a total of 6 boats represented.

Fall MeetingFall Meeting 11/7/20
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, like most everything else in 2020 our Annual Fall Meeting and Winners Dinner became a virtual event Zoom meeting. But, like a number of things we did this year, we made lemonade out of lemons and had 33 participants from three countries and 5 states representing 25 Islanders. We certainly covered a lot of territory! From David Smookler (Melody) in Hull, MA it was 2,407 miles to Margo Callaghan (Bokonon) in Panama, and Margo was 3,697 miles from Bert Vermeer (Natasha) in Sidney, BC. Along that path, in addition to the San Francisco Bay area, were Liz Munnelly and Mike Patterson (Green Flash in Portland, OR and Greg Greene (Whisper) in Tacoma, WA. You can expand the envelope a bit by adding David Herring (Galatea) in Minneapolis, MN, and Rob Kirby (Seahorse) near Houston, TX. To see all the fun and a bit about the Pacific Cup, follow this link to the Fall Meeting and Winnders Dinner Zoom Meeting.
Nationals RegattaNationals Regatta 10/3/20
The wind and sailing gods must have approved of our Nationals Regatta, because we went from an unhealthy air situation on the Bay on Friday to a glorious 10 - 12 knot westerly with crisp blue skies and sparkling water. 9 Islanders signed up and 7 made it to the starting line. Highlighter won it, but there are lots of great pictures of the whole fleet to enjoy.

We would like pictures under full sail, that are clear and crisp, and most often show the whole boat, but, hey, if you like the picture, the rest of our members probably will too. They don't have to be any special size or type.
They can be attached to an e-mail. Just highlight and copy the block of text below, click "Send Email to I-36 Webmaster", paste the text into the message area, fill in your data, then attach your picture file and send it!
